POWER DOWN AND ANTENNA/POWER DOWN BOXES
Power down boxes enable you to get the bed flat in the event of a power outage or, in some cases, your hand control is lost or damaged. There is usually a spot for two nine volt batteries. If the box is only for use in a power outage there are no external buttons on the box. If it can also be used in case of a lost or damaged hand wand, then there will be a button to push and hold to lower the base.

I do not recommend putting the batteries in the box until you need to lower the base. You very rarely need to use the emergency power down feature so bed owners tend to forget about it for years and then when they need to use it, the batteries have leaked and corroded the box and the box is then inoperative.

Some motors, such as the Okimat and the similar Richmat one piece units have a nine volt battery connector hanging out of the housing for attaching the battery.

Please note: these back up systems are for lowering the bed to a flat position, they are not designed to operate the bed up and down for normal use.

LIFESTYLE RAVEN ANTENNA/POWER DOWN BOX
(NOT FOR USE ON PRODIGY BASES)
THESE ARE NOW DISCONTINUED.  YOU WILL HAVE TO INSTALL THE RAVEN TO LINAK UPGRADE KIT.

This is the antenna/power down box used on some of the bases with Oki Motors. It has a small push button on the face and a small LED beside it. The LED should light up and flash green when you push any button on your hand control, whether the bed is programmed to that hand control or not. Hold this button down continuously to lower the bed in the event of a power outage.

There are four possible causes if it does not light up and flash:

1. The hand control is not transmitting.
2. The bed is not plugged in.
3. The antenna/power down box and/or cord is bad.
4. The circuit board in the Oki motor is bad.

If your antenna/power down box looks similar to this but has a rocker switch on the top, it is the old style that is also no longer available.

OKIN POWER DOWN BOX

This is the power down box for certain Okimat dual actuator motors and Okin control boxes. It is only a power down box. It does not act as an antenna. The control boxes will operate without this box. There is a large black button on top of this box. Hold this button down continuously to lower the bed in the event of a power outage. This button also acts as an alternate button to put the control box in program mode. Pushing the button two times in rapid concession put the control box in programming mode. Follow the directions for you hand wand to complete the programming procedure.

A frequent reason for replacing these boxes are that a pet has chewed through the wire. This box has four tabs with holes. These tabs are used to put screws through to attach the box to the underside of the base. It can be mounted near the edge of the base at the side or foot for easy access. The cord can then be fastened up off the floor to prevent the pet from chewing on it.

EMERGENCY POWER DOWN PIGTAIL

If your bed used a separate 24/29 volt inline power supply, you can use this pigtail in the event of a power outage to lower your bed. (It is not designed for everyday up and down control of your bed). First attach two nine volt batteries to the pigtail. Then you would unplug the input cord from your power supply and plug it into this pigtail.

Becasuse you won't use this very often, if at all, I would recommend attaching this pigtail with a twist tie to the end of your input cord nearest the poser supply so you will be able to find it when you need it. Do not attach the batteries until you need them.
